#EarperView with @EarpYourFandom

Hello, Earpers, and welcome to a new EarperView! This one is special to me because it’s the first one I’ve conducted with someone I’ve never actually met. You probably know Nic from Twitter as the awesome person who won the WayHaught banner (designed by Lora Innes) and Earped it forward by having Lora select another winner at random, @smf361998, who THEN decided to Earp it even more Forward by sending it to @WaverlyReyes to cheer her up as she recovered from surgery. Nic took the concept of EarpYourFandom even further, and I “met” her after being chosen as the winner of a T-shirt drawing. I asked her if she’d mind participating, and she was totally game.

The EarpYourFandom movement has shown us all such positivity, and those posts are a welcome break of positivity in the sometimes-bleak day-to-day. Somehow in between all of this, she finds time to do photo recaps of Wynonna Earp, too. I am looking forward to meeting Nic at Dragon Con so I can update this EarperView with a picture!

Tell us a little bit about your non-Earper alter ego.

In the real world, many people call me “bp” or “beep” for my initials. I’m 34. I studied business admin at University of Florida and was later certified as a teacher. I taught high school math for about 6 years, both in the classroom and online. It was tough. Teenagers are not what they used to be. I did get to coach volleyball for a couple years, which was fun.

I started a master’s program, but my life bottomed out at 30, which no one plans for. That was delightful beyond words. When you’re starting over, you get to do things you once considered beneath you, so it’s a very humbling experience.

Now, I work in Corporate America. It’s the worst! The perks are nice, though. I get to wear jeans every day and a Black Badge hat. I live close enough to let my pup out on lunch. After 5:00, no one calls me anymore. Ultimately, I’m thankful.

The older I get, the more I realize you have control over very little, so it’s best not to stress yourself out whenever possible. (I’m not very good at that.)

How did you find Wynonna Earp and the fandom?

I binged the first season right after it ended, and that was kinda that. I loved the show, but I didn’t get involved until I joined Twitter for The 100.

Is this your first fandom?

I’m much more involved in this one now, but I have a no drama club of adult Twitter peeps from The 100 fandom. As you well know, that show’s been steeped in controversy, and there are major shipping wars and plenty of toxicity. There’s always a little corner for people who don’t want to be terrible, though, and I think I found it.

What is your favorite fandom memory?

So far, it’s the story of the non-traveling traveling banner that started #EarpYourFandom.

What is your favorite Wynonna Earp/Earper activity?

I love to read all the things people write and post on Twitter as pictures because screw 140 characters. The @EarpYourFandom account is a lot of fun as well.

What has Wynonna Earp come to mean to you?

It’s such an honest and real portrayal of people in the most outlandish circumstances. I’ve always liked well-written supernatural shows because the scenarios are almost allegorical for any problem you may face. There’s not much honesty and realness in the world, and I’m very appreciative of the show for bringing that, as well as the portrayal of strong, layered, and broken women who play alongside men that aren’t threatened by them.

Are there any pictures you’d like to share of your Wynonna Earp experience?

I’ll have to get back to you after Dragon Con 2017!

(See you there, Nic!)

Dolls or Doc?

I hate this question, but Doc. He’s a guilt-ridden man who’s trying to be good but isn’t sure he can be, and there’s something so raw about that. Oh, and I guess he has a hat and a stache or something.

Describe why Fandras is a thing in 7 words or less.

Isn’t it Fandrews? Eh, she’s okay. 😉

What is your favorite Earp sisters moment?

I hate this question, too! All of them, of course. Gun to my head? The first time I fell for these two was when Wynonna called Waverly “baby girl” in episode 1. She says it again in 1×13. “You okay, baby girl?” My heart melts every time. Waves is always her first concern.

How have you Earped your life?

I’ve connected with so many awesome Earpers recently. I live Twearp with all of you #NoChill people, and I have an alarm set on my phone so I don’t miss episodes. Am I available on Friday nights, you ask? No. No, I am not.

What’s the Earpiest thing you’ve ever done?

I’m sure it’s the same as one of Wynonna’s secrets. *shh*

How are you most like Mercedes Gardner?

I am way over crappy people being entitled, so we have that in common. Though, we’re very different in the fact that I still have a face.

What would happen if you touched the goo?

I’m not sure. Maybe I’d throw my old boss out of a window? I probably shouldn’t say that because it’s bound to happen to him at some point and I don’t want to implicate myself. So, option 2. I would get that rat smoothie recipe for future reference.

If Lora Innes could draw a scene from your life, what would it be?

Me hugging her awesome self at Dragon Con in September!
