Hello, friends, and welcome to another week of EarperViews! This week’s theme may be one of my favorites, because it’s what all of us are deep down — fans. But, you know, like, giant ones. And if there’s one thing my tiny gay fangirl heart loves, it’s a fellow fan.
I first met Nic at ClexaCon, and she was one of the first Earpers I talked to who I hadn’t met at FanExpo the previous year. Within five minutes, I learned that she had spent some time near where I grew up because she had family who lived there, and we chatted a bit about the (embarrassingly backwards at times) area that we knew so well.
Nic is the queen of the gifs, and her “good night” ones always make me smile. There’s no one else I would rather discuss the finer points of soap operas with (and I would say argue, but we are usually on the same side). She’s truly one of the nicest, realest people I have had the pleasure of meeting in this fandom, and I am extremely grateful to her for agreeing to be EarperViewed. AND SHE MET GAL GADOT YESTERDAY, AND READING HER TWEETS ABOUT IT WAS MY FAVORITE PART OF THE TWITTER DAY.
Honestly, I could go on for a bit, but that’s not why you’re here, is it?
Tell us a little bit about your non-Earper alter ego.
I work from home, so I’m with my dog and my TV most days. I captain a tennis team, I box, and I watch way too much TV and yell about it on Twitter. [ Editor’s note — and we are grateful for it. ]
How did you find Wynonna Earp and the fandom?
I saw a commercial and then a banner for it at New York Comic Con months before it aired and knew just from those two things that I was in. I guess I just kinda fell into the fandom since I was live tweeting from day one. So glad to be a part of this shit show!
Is this your first fandom?
It is not. I’m old and have been part of fandoms for most of my life, but never as heavily involved as I am with Wynonna. [ Editor’s note — I’m older than you are. Shut your mouth. ]
What is your favorite fandom memory?
Honestly, I have so many that I’m not sure I can choose just one. Any time I’m with Earpers a new memory is made. So I’m not choosing one; I’m choosing them all. You can’t make me choose. All my Earper memories are my favorite memories.
What is your favorite con memory?
Watching Dom and Kat’s faces as they entered the panel room at ClexaCon. The awe on their faces was something I hope to never forget.
What is your favorite Wynonna Earp/Earper activity?
I love the live tweeting. Just seeing how witty the fandom is and getting to interact with everyone around the globe is amazing.
What has Wynonna Earp come to mean to you?
Family. Maybe sounds kinda dumb, but the people I’ve met through this show are family, headed by a cast and crew that treat us as such. It’s pretty amazing. [ Editor’s note — so say we all. ]
Are there any pictures you’d like to share of your Wynonna Earp experience?
I’ve attached two. One clearly proves that I have a Wynonna Earp addiction…
Widow Beth or Widow Mercedes?
Widow Mercedes. Not everyone can look that good while leaking brain.
On a scale of 1 to 10, how much do you Fandras?
The limit does not exist.
Describe why Fandras is a thing in 7 words or less.
Because she cares so much.
What is your favorite Earp sisters moment?
“You’re wrong, Wynonna. You’re the best of us.” I cried SO hard at that. Dom and Mel are such powerhouses and that whole scene was amazing but THAT LINE. That line was everything. Lines like that are what make this show as great as it is. It’s goofy and silly and takes places in a world that doesn’t exist, but it is so very full of heart.
How have you Earped your life?
I own pretty much anything WE related and I’ve started traveling to cons just for WE. I’ve also tried to channel my inner Wynonna, Waverly, and Nicole and be a little braver. It’s not easy but those ladies inspire me.
What’s the Earpiest thing you’ve ever done?
I’m not sure this counts as the Earpiest thing, but I flew to Atlanta for four days of DragonCon just to hang out with some of my favorite Earpers.
Mariah and Tessa (Y&R, for those of you who don’t know) take a wrong turn and end up in Purgatory. What happens and how do they get out of it?
Based on how things are going in Genoa City, I’m thinking they meet Nicole and Waverly at Shorty’s and realize that, in spite of the Revenants, etc, life is easier in Purgatory. So they decide to stay and make a life together in Purgatory. Maybe they open a coffee shop that has open mic night. I think both Mariah and Tessa could flourish in Purgatory.
Where you can find Nic:
(personal Twitter)
Nic, thank you so much for agreeing to this, and I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did. I’ll see you Wednesday with the next one in our “super fans” installment!
